Post Jam NOT Mortem


So the game jam is over for almost 2 weeks now. 

I have been too busy with life and updates I barely have time to think what to write in this devlog. 

So the ratings are as follows.

Gamedevjs 2024 Ratings

The ratings are as expected as I was basically solo-jamming with limited resources. 

My art are still beginner level and I managed to use some art assets to fill in the void. 

But it does not really fit the theme, hence the low score.

I am surprised that I got 55 ratings though. And also lots of feedback. Thank you everyone.

SO FOR THE UPDATES,

  • Designing the balls myself instead of using game assets. It will be themed around power generation like thermal, tidal etc.
  • Optimizing my code but players don't really care as long as it works.
  • More mechanics like big balls will not shrink so they might fall off the cracks. 
  • Adding a bumper for triggering ball spawning. You need to hit that in order to get more balls. You get 1 starting ball though. If that falls off, you will get another one so no worries.
  • Revamping the layout.
  • Add more background and maybe some idle characters to make the game more lively.
  • Redesign the logo.

And I think that will be it for now. Stay tuned for a new POWBALL.
